Patiala, June 1:Former Union Minister and Member Lok Sabha Mrs. Preneet Kaur reiterated that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has fulfilled its commitment for the welfare of all the sections of the state.
While starting the symbolic distribution of tool kits among the 111 members of self help groups of the district, she said that the department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities had chosen the members of SHGs, belonging to Scheduled Castes and having Vocational Education to help them in starting self employment. She handed over five kits to the members of various SHGs, present on this ocassion.Mrs. Preneet Kaur further said that this initiative has been taken by the Punjab Government to set up self employment ventures for the Scheduled Caste beneficiaries under the Special Central Assistance Scheme.
The MP said that there were about 3200 SHGs in the district, through which the living standards of the rural women had been improved towards prosperity and this move was aimed at strengthening the financial status of members of these groups.
