Department increases alertness and vigilance after detecting Omicron variant in Rajasthan


Jaipur, December 7.After confirming patients with the new omicron variant of corona virus in the State, the Health Department has increased the alertness and vigilance.Principal Secretary Shri Akhil Arora and Health Secretary Mr Vaibhav Galriya gave necessary directions to the principals of all the medical colleges, CMHOs, PMOs and the concerned officers of the State through VC.


Health secretary through VC on Monday directed to take more and more samples and do random sampling in the State. He said, “We will be able to control the corona sooner by taking more samples.” He also directed the officers to get the genome sequencing done of all the patients who are tested corona positive.

Mr  Galriya instructed to get the effective tracking and tracing done of the people coming from abroad as per the Government of India protocol. He said if the patients are found suspicious or tested positive then should start the treatment by isolating them immediately. He directed to make a separate ward in each district for omicron positive and suspected people.

The Secretary said that on December 4, the health personnel by working tirelessly set an example of vaccinating more than 11 lakh people. He said that this effort should go on constantly so that corona could be controlled in time.


Mr Galriya also directed to ensure the installation of oxygen plants, ICU beds etc in hospitals from time to time looking at the possibility of a third wave of corona. Besides this, he also directed to get the doctors and nursing personnel trained in ICU management, oxygen therapy, treatment protocol etc.


Directions were given in detail on many subjects including action plan for controlling Covid-19 (Omicron) disease, contact tracing and RT-PCR tests of all primary and secondary contacts came in contact with suspicious travellers, compilation of information of each omicron positive in the prescribed formed, daily review, five-fold strategy (test, track, treatment, vaccination and appropriate behaviour), testing of samples of all ILI and pneumonia patients coming to OPD and IPD. 


Sawai Man Singh Medical College Principal Dr Sudhir Bhandari informed in detail about the corona new variant Omicron. He said that by doing effective tracing, the infection of new virus can be prevented by sampling the people who came in contact with the positive patient.
