Take A Pledge To Protect The Constitution And Strengthen Our Democracy : CM

 

Jaipur, January 26. Chief Minister Mr Ashok Gehlot said that on this Republic Day, let us take a pledge that everyone will work together to protect our constitution and to strengthen the democracy. Looking at the current atmosphere of tension and distrust prevailing in the country, we need to follow the path of truth and non-violence shown by Gandhiji, he said.

Mr Gehlot was addressing after unfurling the national flag at Badi Chaupar on the occasion of Republic Day on Wednesday. Extending wishes to the people of the State on Republic Day, he said on this day, we all should remember those known and unknown freedom fighters, who had sacrificed their everything for the freedom of our country. Many great men including Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Gopal Krishna Gokhale made an invaluable contribution to the freedom struggle under the leadership of Gandhiji.

The Chief Minister said that Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar gave us a strong constitution. It is the responsibility of all of us to strengthen the roots of democracy by protecting the constitutional values. He said that today there is an atmosphere of tension and distrust. People of various religions, castes and classes live here. By taking all people along together we have to keep this country, having the unique identity of unity in diversity, as one and undivided, he added.

Mr Gehlot said that after independence our country has made progress in every field including Science and Technology, Industry and Agriculture, but today efforts are being made to deny the achievements of those 70 years. Former Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi, Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Punjab Chief Minister Shri Beant Singh sacriced their lives but did not allow the anti-national forces to succeed. Today we have to move ahead with this spirit by facing the challenges posed before our democracy.

Mr  Gehlot said that the State Government has successfully faced the long phase of the worldwide corona pandemic by taking along every section of the society. Our efficient management was praised in the country and around the world.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is moving fast in the direction of providing responsive, transparent and accountable governance. It is our endeavour that the people of the State get good governance, create more and more employment opportunities and Rajasthan reaches to the peak.
