Jaipur, 04 June .Commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Sapta Shakti Command organised a Mini Marathon on 04 Jun at Jaipur Military Station.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a national initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of Independence and glorious history of India’s people, culture and achievements. Sapta Shakti Command has been actively conducting various events to commemorate Amrit Mahotsav since Mar 2021.
The mini marathon was flagged off by General Officer Commanding, 61 Sub Area from Gandiv Stadium, Jaipur Military Station with an aim to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and spread awareness about physical fitness. More than 500 participants including ladies and children enthusiastically ran the Mini Marathon covering staggered distances of 1.5 km, 3 km & 8 km run.
Winners in different categories were Master Sachin Negi in Under 18Boys Ms Dipika under 18 girls Mrs Saroj in Women's Category and Paratrooper Nagendra Singh in open men's category.
Cash prize certificate and medals were awarded to first five athletes in each category.
The Mini Marathon emphasised the importance of fitness and wellness in life. Athletics is mother of all sports disciplines and running is an integral part of the lifestyle in the Indian Army. Taking part in such events strengthens the body, initiates social bonding and enhances sense of achievement. A strong and healthy body is the only vehicle to traverse the journey of life and soldiers and their dependents always endeavour to keep themeselves fit and set an example.
