Doctors Memorial to be built in SMS Hospital in honour of doctors



Jaipur, 2 July . Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma said that medical science is such a noble profession in the world in which doctors save the lives of people by putting their lives at risk. Therefore, the Rajasthan Government will construct a ‘Doctors Memorial’ in the 22-storey IPD Tower being built in SMS Hospital to pay true tribute to the doctors.


Dr Sharma was addressing a virtual programme and felicitation function on National Doctors’ Day organised by Rajasthan Medical Council on Thursday. He said that the first and second wave of covid could be controlled with the help of doctors, medical staff and other medical personnel. All personnel are gearing up for a possible third wave of corona. He said that the State Government is working to strengthen the medical infrastructure in Rajasthan. He said that in a year, around 2700 Medical Officers have been appointed in the State. Apart from this, Medical Officers will be recruited soon.


The Health Minister said that the State Government has made all efforts to take care of all members of the medical family. He said necessary action has been taken after considering sympathetically the demands such as demand to change the designation of nurses lying pending for last six years, creating pharmacist cadre, increasing honorarium of resident doctors and ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh on death due to covid-19. He said that the demand of creating a cadre of doctors as per the agreement in 2011, 2017 is pending. The cadre committee in the month of June has made the proposal in this regard and submitted it to the State Government. The proposal will be examined and will be implemented soon by considering it sympathetically.


The Health Minister said that the medical profession is not a business but a challenging duty towards the society. The doctors during the period of corona without caring for their lives treated corona positive patients with complete devotion, service and dedication and saved the lives of thousands of patients. He said that even during the pandemic that came around 100 years ago, the then medical personnel served humanity by putting their lives at risk . Even in the present times, medical personnel have carried forward these glorious traditions.


Dr Sharma said that the state was extensively appreciated in corona management and vaccination because of the efforts of the medical personnel. He said that looking at the possible third wave of corona, infrastructure of more than 350 Community Health Centres is being strengthened. He said the State is being made self-reliant in the field of oxygen. At around 400 places in the State oxygen plants are being set up. There will be availability of 1000 metric tonnes of oxygen through these plants and equipment.  


On this occasion, family members of the doctors, who lost their life during corona were felicitated. Besides this, doctors were given certificates of merit for their commendable work in the medical field. Rajasthan Medical Council Chairman Dr KK Sharma, Registrar Dr SS Ranawat, Dr Ish Munjal, Dr Deepak Mathur, Dr Shrikant Sharma and other medical personnel and officers were present in this programme.
