Rajasthan Moving Towards Fulfilling Energy Needs of the Country: Chief Minister

 

Jaipur, February 8. Chief Minister Mr Ashok Gehlot said that it has been the result of policies of the state government to promote investment that today Rajasthan has emerged as a leading State in the country in the field of Solar Energy. Renowned companies and investors in the field of renewable energy are coming to the State for investment. “We are making efforts to develop Rajasthan as the manufacturing hub of solar equipment and wish that investors also show their interest in investing. The State Government will extend full cooperation,” he said. 

 

Mr Gehlot was addressing a programme of the signing of MoUs/LoIs worth Rs 3.05 lakh crore with investors in the renewable energy sector through a video conference from his official residence on Tuesday. Renewable energy production in the State will be more than 90,000 MW with this investment. On this occasion, the signed MoUs and LoIs were exchanged between the investors and the State Government. 

 

The Chief Minister said that the work in renewable energy is going on at such a pace that the day is not far when Rajasthan will play a big role in fulfilling the energy needs of the country. 

 

The Chief Minister said that the Government in the last three years took many policy initiatives to promote renewable energy production. He said, “To make Rajasthan a Renewable Energy Hub we have released New Solar Energy Policy-2019 and Wind & Hybrid Energy Policy. We have also took policy decisions such as RIPS-2019, One Stop Shop system and MSME Act to provide a conducive atmosphere to investors. The Government also removed the obstacles coming in the way of investment by moving ahead towards Ease of Doing Business in the State. 

 

Mr Gehlot said that a strong distribution system has been developed for the transmission of the energy generated in the State. Rajasthan is becoming an example for the world in the field of solar energy due to adequate availability of land, strong infrastructure and favourable policies of the government. He said that the State Government is also giving priority to the manufacturing of solar equipments. He called upon the investors in this sector to come ahead and set up their units in Rajasthan and the government will extend them full support.

 

Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation signed MoUs and LoIs worth Rs 3.05 lakh crore with a capacity of more than 90GW capacity with 5 Public Sector Units and private companies. Public Sector Unit NTPC to set up 10GW of worth Rs 40,000 crore, NHPC Ltd to set up 10GW of worth Rs 20,000 crore, Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam to set up 10GW of Worth Rs 50,000 crore THDC India Ltd to set up 10GW of Worth Rs 40,000 crore, SECI to establish 2GW of Rs 9,000 crore, Reliance Group to set up 20GW of Rs 1 lakh crore, Axis Energy Group to set up 28GW Solar Park, Solar Projects and 4GW Solar Module Manufacturing of Rs 37,000 crore and Sukhveer Agro Group to set up 2GW solar park/projects and 100MW biomass of Rs 9,000 crore. 

 Revenue Minister Mr Ramlal Jat said that Rajasthan is peaceful and is the most favourable State for investment. The Revenue Department is fulfilling the land related requirements of the investors with full commitment. Besides this, the interest of farmers and other parties are also being taken care of in the acquisition of land. 

 Industries Minister Smt Shakuntala Rawat said that the Government is providing full support and favourable atmosphere to the investors. The MoUs and LoIs that have been signed today will be implemented on the ground in time bound manner. 

 Minister of State for Energy Shri Bhanwar Singh Bhati said that more than 1.60 lakh hectares of suitable land is available for the generation of solar power in various districts of western Rajasthan, where solar parks are being set up. He said that Rajasthan will attain a big position in this sector in the coming time due to the policies implemented by the State Government in renewable energy. 

 

Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma said that Rajasthan is ready to play a big role to fulfil the national target of generating 500Gw renewable energy in the country by 2030. She said that investors have an important role to play in strengthening the State’s economy and providing employment opportunities.  

 

Additional Chief Secretary Mr Subodh Agarwal said that the tough geographical conditions of the State are now becoming our strength due to the policies of the State Government. He said today, Rajasthan has become a top State in the country in terms of the installed capacity of solar energy. The signing of MoUs and LoIs of more than Rs 3 lakh crore in the field of energy in the State is a good sign.

 NHPC Director Mr YK Chaubey said that NHPC is already working in Rajasthan on 50MW wind power project. The company will invest Rs 20,000 crore for generating 10,000Mw capcity in the field of renewable energy. Sukhveer Agro Group Director Shri Sukhveer Singh said that the support that the investors are getting in Rajasthan is really praiseworthy. Land acquisition, power purchase agreement and other necessary processes were completed in a speedy manner which shows the strong willpower of the State Government. 

 Tihari Hydro Development Corporation CMD Mr RK Vishnoi said the initiative taken by the State Government to promote solar energy generation is a model for other states.Axis Energy CMD Shri Ravi Kumar Reddy said that in Rajasthan, the process of providing land was completed in a short span of four months and such an easy process of land acquisition is not there in other states. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd CEO Shri Mohit Bhargava said that NTPC targets to increase the generation capacity from 4,000Mw to 10,000 MW per annum through renewable energy. Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam CMD Shri Nandlal Sharma said the corporation has got an opportunity to contribute in the field of renewable energy in Rajasthan and will make efforts to complete it on time.  Solar Energy Corporation of India MD Smt Sumar Sharma praised the investment-friendly policies of the State Government. Senior officers of Industries, Energy, Revenue and other departments and district collector of various districts attended the programme.
